Fabio Quagliarella began his professional career as a forward for Annunziatella from 1988 to 1991. After that, he played for various clubs in his youth career, including Pro Juventude, Gragnano, and Torino, until 1999. On 14 May 2000, he made his Serie A debut, scoring twice in a 2–1 victory over Piacenza. Fabio was a Torino player from 1997 to 2005.
He then went on loan to Fiorentina and Chieti in 2002-03 and 2003-04, respectively. In 2005, he joined the Serie B team Ascoli, where he remained until 2006.
